Betsy Sutton Smith

Betsy Sutton Smith grew up in the Champaign-Urbana area and graduated from Urbana High School. Having earned an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Central Michigan University, she returned to this community to complete a Master's in Social Work (M.S.W.) degree at the University of Illinois in 1980. She spent six years as the Social Worker for Col. Wolfe School in Champaign before enjoying six years at home with the young, energetic Smith children.

Betsy has been a School Social Worker in the Urbana Schools for 14 years. Most recently, Betsy worked for Provena Covenant's Hospice program while actively pursuing her lifelong interest in real estate.

Betsy has been married to Jim Smith, also an Urbana native, for 25 years. Betsy's husband has owned and managed numerous rental properties in Champaign-Urbana over the past 27 years so real estate has been in the family for a long time.

Betsy and Jim are the parents of Nick, 21 and Molly, 19. Nick is the 4th generation of the Sutton family to attend the University of Illinois. Molly attends Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Their family enjoys traveling, gardening, gentle political discussions and watching the C-U real estate market.
